Katherine Sherman
With the Sherman family history bordering around pubs, at a very early age Katherine Sherman has been involved in the hospitality industry, pouring her first beer on tap at probably around the age of five. Katherine began working in family owned establishments at a young age involving herself in all facets of these businesses including bar, dining, gaming, retail and drive through bottle shops.
More recently Katherine spent 18 months in a hotel in the Noosa hinterland and most of 2006 managing the Injune Hotel in western Queensland.
Katherine’s love affair with the finer things in life (i.e. food and wine) began while working at Brisbane’s Seasalt...at Armstrong's with chef/owner - the definitive Russell Armstrong. It was here Katherine became a food and wine enthusiast and her love affair with the food and wine industry truly began.
Katherine has been working at Brents since January 2007 and finds this the ideal place to pursue her passion for wine, although sometimes being spoiled for choice (the 1981-1985 flight of Grange tasting springs to mind). She is looking forward to completing her nationally accredited Australian Society of wine education wine appreciation course. Her love of wine and the avant-garde nature of the food keep her engrossed in the vision that is Brents.
